History

17 year old female neutered Domestic Shorthair cat with decreased appetite and weight loss.

Findings

There is a mediastinal shift to the left with hyperinflation of the right lung lobes. There is a mass effect dorsal and to the left of the carina, with collapse of the left lung lobes and cranial displacement of the left diaphragmatic crus. The cardiac silhouette is partially obscured by the opacity however seems normal in size.

DDx

• Bronchial obstruction and atelectasis secondary to a mass (neoplasia, granuloma)

Diagnosis

• Probable epithelial neoplasia, histiocytic inflammation, and mucus.
• Fine needle aspirates were obtained with ultrasound guidance
