History

10 year old female neutered Viszla with waxing and waning lethargy.

Findings

The cardiac silhouette is enlarged and rounded. There is mild pleural effusion. A small, poorly defined soft tissue nodule is present superimposed over the 6th costochondral junction on the left lateral projection and on the right 6th intercostal space on the VD projection. The pulmonary vasculature appears within normal limits. There is descreased abdominal serosal detail.

DDx

• pleural effusion (hemorrhage, chyle, transudate, inflammatory)
• cardiomegaly (pericardial effusion, cardiomyopathy)

Diagnosis

• Idiopathic pericardial, pleural, and peritoneal effusion which resolved in 10 days.
