History

6 year old female neutered spaniel mix. History of left hind limb lameness.

2 weeks later, the dog presented for non-weight bearing lameness.

Findings

Original radiographs: The patellar ligament is thickened. There is no evidence of stifle joint effusion. There are no periarticular osteophytes.

Follow up radiographs: The patellar tendon is no longer clearly visualized dorsal to the stifle. The patella is displaced proximally and laterally.

Diagnosis

Patellar tendinitis with subsequent rupture.
