Findings

A small, round, mineral opacity is observed within the larynx ventral to C2 on the first lateral projection. On the subsequent neck radiograph, the opacity is not visible. The patient became dyspneic at this point and was administered oxygen. On the third lateral radiograph the opacity is again located within the larynx. There is a second round mineral opacity within the descending colon.

Diagnosis

Tracheal foreign body

Discussion

A small seed was removed from the upper airway using endoscopy. The seed was mobile, and lodging in a distal airway likely caused respiratory distress during the radiographic examination.
